Syracuse,
NY – March 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / The pop/rock group Orleans
will show the audience at Chevy Court at the Great
New York State Fair that they’re “Still The One” at 2:00 p.m. on Friday,
August 28, Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner announced Tuesday (March 24).
Orleans will be joined by and also provide backing for Paul Barrere and
Fred Tackett, longtime members of Little Feat.
“There are a lot of great
hits between these two bands and I think this show will provide not only
great value, but a great time for everyone. It should be quite a party
and a great part of the weekend,” said Waffner.
Orleans has its roots in
Ithaca bar bands involving two of its four founders. Formed in Woodstock,
NY in 1972 by John Hall, brothers Lance and Larry Hoppen and Wells Kelly,
Orleans went about perfecting its recipe of eclectic material, including
R&B seasoned with Cajun and roots music. They went on to produce chart-topping
hits including “Dance With Me,” “Let There Be Music,” “Love Takes Time,”
“Reach” and, of course, their American standard, “Still the One”. In recent
years, Orleans has hit the road to play their songs, including several
new ones, while pairing with other artists of their heyday era.
Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett
are two of the musicians behind legendary band Little Feat, which blended
influences as diverse as rock, gospel, jazz, country, and folk. The rock
radio staple “Dixie Chicken” came out of the band’s early years. Little
Feat is the rare case of a band having a successful second act, as the
group reemerged from having been disbanded to record the album “Let It
Roll” in 1988, with four singles hitting the top 20 of the rock charts,
topped by “Hate To Lose Your Lovin’.”
