Syracuse, NY – May 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / Fans of the Great New York State Fair have one final opportunity for a super discount on the cost of attending one of the nation’s best state fairs. Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner announced that the Fair will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a very limited offering of $5 admission tickets.

Only 5,555 tickets will be available, and they will go on sale at exactly 5:55 am Eastern time on Tuesday, May 5. The online-only sale will take place at the Fair’s ticket sales site on etix.com, at: www.etix.com/ticket/online/performanceSearch.jsp?performance_id=2622362.

“This is our last and final special ticket deal, and I know these tickets will go very quickly. We’re planning another terrific Fair, featuring the best lineup of free concerts on Chevy Court in our history. If you’re interested in these tickets, I wouldn’t wait much past 5:55 am to try to get them,” said Waffner.

The Fair’s first-ever online ticket sale, held on Cyber Monday last December, saw 10,000 tickets priced at $3 sell out in just a few hours. As with the Cyber Monday sale, ticket purchases are limited to four per person. All sales are conducted online only, via the Fair’s official online ticket seller, etix.com. Each ticket is $5, and there are no added fees.

The Fair has scheduled several other admission promotions for this year. The Fair’s successful Dollar Day promotion returns on Labor Day this year. Admission tickets and all rides on the Wade Shows Midway are $1. New this year is Three Dollar Thursdays. Admission is $3 on opening day, Thursday, August 27 and on Thursday, September 3. In addition, there are special days featuring free attendance for seniors, firefighters and emergency medical personnel, police, Native Americans, and current and retired members of the United States military. Children 12 and under are admitted free every day.

No refunds can be issued for those using higher-priced admission tickets on a discount or free admission day.

The Fair’s annual advance sale ticket program begins in mid-June. Admission tickets will be available for $6 online and at grocery stores and other outlets across the state. Admission at the gate during the Fair is $10.

The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 27 – September 7, 2015. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.

In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.

The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.
