Syracuse, NY – September 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / The Great New York State Fair has been nominated in USA TODAY’s 2015 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest, announced Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner. New Yorkers and fairgoers can start voting now for the New York State Fair as the best State Fair in the country at www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-state-fair.

“This year’s Fair is off to a fantastic start with a terrific blend of long-time favorite attractions and new, exciting activities and exhibits, thrilling rides, and of course, unique and wild food. We’re proud to have what’s perhaps the best free music concert lineup across all state fairs in the U.S. and we continue our commitment to focus on local agriculture. We have something for everyone here and we encourage New Yorkers and fairgoers to go online and vote for us as Best State Fair in the country,” said Waffner.

USA TODAY’s expert panel selected the Great New York State Fair as a contender for Best State Fair contest, which launched Monday (August 31). The contest gives voters four weeks to vote for their favorite choice. A person can vote once a day for the run of the contest. The direct link to vote is at www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-state-fair/great-new-york-state-fair-syracuse-n-y.

Voting ends Monday, September 28th, 2015 at noon and the winners will be announced on 10Best on Friday, October 2nd, 2015 at noon, then later on USA TODAY.

About New York State Fair
The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 27 to September 7, 2015. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its 2015 theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment. This year’s tagline – “New Attractions, Old Favorites, Timeless Fun” – highlights the more than two dozen new events and attractions and the expansion or enhancement of several Fairgoer favorites.

In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.

The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.
