Syracuse, NY – June 2017 / Newsmaker Alert / The family band known as Chevelle will bring rock-hard music to the stage at Chevy Court when they make their debut appearance at the Great New York State Fair at 8 pm on Thursday, August 24, Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner said Wednesday (May 31).

Brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler and brother-in-law Dean Bernardini are touring behind the group’s eighth album, “The North Corridor.” All of their major-label albums have hit the top 20 on the Billboard albums chart and three hit #1 on the hard rock albums chart. The new album marks a return to the heavier, harder sound of Chevelle’s earliest work with mature, message-oriented lyrics that reflect two decades of writing and the changes in their lives.

“We work hard to produce a lineup that has something for everyone, and I know music fans who like their music loud and hard will enjoy an evening with Chevelle. They’re an important part of the most diverse and best lineup in Chevy Court history,” said Waffner.

The show takes place on the first of two Three Dollar Thursdays, when admission to the Fair is just $3. All concerts at Chevy Court are free with your admission. Chevrolet’s sponsorship makes possible the best lineup of free national touring acts at any state fair.

Chevelle joins a growing lineup of shows that includes:

  • Robert Randolph and the Family Band, 2 pm, August 23
  • 3 Doors Down, 8 pm, August 23
  • The Fabulous Thunderbirds, 2 pm, August 25
  • The Beach Boys, 7 pm, August 25

About the Great New York State Fair
The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 23 to September 4, 2017. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its theme, “Find Your Great...,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.

The 375-acre New York State Fairgrounds is undergoing the most significant transformation since it first opened its gates in 1890. The $50 million plan, announced by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, revitalizes the grounds in many ways, improving the quality of the fairgoer’s experience and providing greater economic benefits for the region. Improvements include the dramatic new Main Gate— the arches of which recall the carriage gate that greeted fairgoers in 1900, a larger, 15-acre Wade Shows Midway that will hold more rides than ever, and the brand new 315-site Empire RV Park with underground water, sewer and electrical service. The plan will better position the New York State Fairgrounds as a premier year-round, multi-use facility that can attract more events and visitors from across the nation. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.
