Historic Schiefer Building to House Restaurant

San Diego, CA – August 2015 / Hospitality 1ST / Architectural Concepts, Inc. (ACI), a full service planning, architectural and interior design firm, is the designer of choice for Social Tap San Diego, located in the historic 1920 Schiefer building at 815 J Street, adjacent to Petco Park’s Park in The Park. The 6424 square foot restaurant is the newest addition to the Social Tap family with sister restaurants in Scottsdale and Ventura. Architectural Concepts also designed Social Tap Ventura.

The interior design is fitting with the upscale casual menu with an ambiance blending the old world charm of the building with contemporary materials. ACI used acid washed metal panels to clad the walls and bar ceiling. When the original structure was exposed it revealed old wood joists and posts that are in excellent condition which, according to Interior Architect Margit Whitlock, “Were meant to be seen.” The floors were brought back to their original concrete finish and stained.

The color palate is warm with many shades of brown, rust and gold. Architectural Concepts’ Designer Jesse Gonzalez remarked, “We are so happy to be getting away from grey!”

Social Tap plans to open in September 2015.

ACI primarily focuses on the hospitality and commercial markets. ACI’s Principals, Margit E. Whitlock, AIA, and Brian Giguere AIA are licensed architects in California, Arizona, Florida, Texas and New York. For more information www.4designs.com.
