Award
Named for the Late Sandi Breitenstein, Who Had Been
an
Employee of Averett Warmus Durkee (AWD)

Warmus Durkee (AWD) – accountants specializing in the timeshare resort
industry in addition to other businesses – announced that the not-for-profit
organization Opportunity, Community, Ability (OCA) presented the first
annual “Sandi Breitenstein Volunteer of the Year Award” in honor of Sandi
Breitenstein. Breitenstein was a shareholder of the firm until she passed
away earlier this year. The award was presented during the organization’s
annual “Last Day of Freedom” fundraiser.

OCA was founded by parents,
teachers, therapists and members of the community to assist school-aged
children and adults with Autism and other disabilities who need more opportunities
to engage in age-appropriate activities with their typical peers.
“It will be awarded to an
individual or company who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism as Sandi
did throughout her life,” said Silvia Haas, executive director of OCA.
Recipients receive the flame
of hope award and have their names added to a plaque displayed at OCA’s
main campus.
“Sandi is greatly missed,”
observed AWD Partner Tom Durkee. “She was not only extremely proficient
at her work, but also very active in giving back her time and talents to
the community. We’re pleased to see her name on this award that exemplifies
her generous and loving spirit.”
