Establishes
New Luxury Brand for Worldwide Experiential Travel
|
Atlanta,
GA – January 2017 / Newsmaker Alert / Barefoot
Luxury, Inc., announces that it has completed its acquisition of Barefoot
Cay, SA, owner of the award winning Barefoot
Cay Resort in Roatán, in the Bay Islands of Honduras.
Founded
in 2002, the Barefoot Cay Resort includes fifteen acres of prime real estate
fronting the western Caribbean Sea, including its namesake private three-acre
island, Barefoot Cay. The Barefoot Cay Resort has graced the covers of
Islands Magazine and Honduras Tips, and has been featured across
numerous publications as a top boutique travel destination including Islands,
Scuba Diver and Condé Nast. It has been nominated
for the World Boutique Hotel Awards and the World Luxury Hotel Awards,
and received TripAdvisor’s 2016 Travelers’ Choice Award as a Top 10 Small
Hotel. It also received a TripAdvisor Platinum distinction as a 2016 Green
Leader for its focus on environmental responsibility and sustainability.
Also
included in the transaction is Barefoot Cay’s equally renowned full service
PADI 5 Star Dive Center and Instructor Development Center, Barefoot Divers™.
Barefoot Luxury intends to immediately expand the Barefoot Divers brand
through soon to be announced partnerships in the Cayman Islands, Belize
and other leading dive resort locations worldwide.
“This
acquisition lays the cornerstone for Barefoot Luxury to become a leading
global brand in the luxury experiential travel marketplace,” stated J.P.
Hannan, Executive Chairman of Barefoot Luxury. “We are currently evaluating
similar boutique resort acquisition opportunities throughout the Caribbean,
each with their own specialization and long standing clientele, to collectively
build an unrivaled boutique resort hotel platform.”
While
financial details of the private transaction have not been disclosed, it
was also announced today that, in conjunction with the acquisition, Barefoot
Cay Resort founding partners Milesse Kennedy and Hal Wyman will be joining
Barefoot Luxury’s board of directors. Ms. Kennedy and Mr. Wyman will also
each maintain significant ownership stakes in Barefoot Luxury, Inc.
Ms.
Kennedy said, “After my husband, John, and I bought the property with the
Wymans, we sold our home in Seattle and moved to Roatán to develop
Barefoot Cay. Not having been in the hospitality industry previously, we
created what we would like...casual beachfront elegance where catering
to guests' every whim is the goal of each employee. Hal and I, as surviving
owners, are thrilled and honored that Barefoot Cay has become a part of
Barefoot Luxury.”
