Management Hosts C.A.R.E. Winter Board Meeting
|
Harrisonburg,
VA – February 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / The C.A.R.E.
Board of Directors 2015 Winter Board Meeting was recently held from January
22-25, 2015 just outside of Houston, Texas in Montgomery at First Fairway
at Walden. Longtime C.A.R.E. Member and property management firm I.C.S.
Management graciously hosted the board by providing accommodations,
meeting space and meals throughout the weekend event. I.C.S.’s hospitality
allowed for board members and C.A.R.E. to maximize their time together
without creating additional financial exposure for C.A.R.E. or its volunteer
board member companies.
The
Strategic Planning Committee, chaired by C.A.R.E. President Alain Carr,
met on Friday where they evaluated many factors that could affect the vacation
/ hospitality industry as a whole but more vitally, the organization they
volunteer for…the future of C.A.R.E. Areas of discussion and review included
Global Economic Factors, Social Trends, Industry Issues and Competition
and probably most importantly the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities
and Threats that are likely to affect C.A.R.E. After an all-day session
reviewing these topics and more, the committee put together an Action Plan
for the Board of Directors to use as a guideline to assist them in their
efforts of strengthening and growing the C.A.R.E. organization in 2015.
After the meeting, strategic planning committee members have continued
to work on the plan and the official 2015 C.A.R.E. Strategic Plan and Executive
Summary should be available for review on the C.A.R.E website by the end
of March 2015.
The
following day the C.A.R.E. Board of Directors, in a second all-day meeting,
turned their focus to the ongoing activities and progress of the C.A.R.E.
organization, conferences and committee functions for the 2015 calendar
year. Nominations were discussed for the Richard Gallardo, Pinnacle and
Rookie of the Year awards and results will be announced at the organizations
next conference in Annapolis, Maryland May 2-5, 2015. Board members reviewed
financial and budgetary reporting from C.A.R.E. Treasurer Vikki Lessard
and Sponsorship Tri-Chair Linda Mayhugh reported that the committee had
already secured more than $35,000 in sponsorship dollars for the Annapolis
conference. Membership Committee Chairs Linda Mayhugh and Jim Kwock advised
the board that the 2015 membership renewals were well underway with 142
C.A.R.E members on the roster as of the meeting. Plans were made for C.A.R.E.
to be represented at all of the major industry events for the year including
GNEX and ARDA. The board also solidified and approved many plans for their
anniversary spring conference in Annapolis, where they will celebrate “30
Years Strong – Anchored in Integrity”. Marketing/Revenue Generation Committee
Chairs Dave Dawson and Spence Witten advised that Renee Wagner of Grand
Pacific Resorts was randomly selected from participants of the Fall 2014
Super Raffle to select a charity that C.A.R.E. will donate 5% of its raffle
proceeds to. Renee selected, and the board approved, Send
Me on Vacation as her charity of choice.
The
board meetings were closed with a celebratory toast to two productive days
of meetings at an amazing dinner at Walden Yacht Club in Montgomery. On
behalf of C.A.R.E., thank you to I.C.S. Management and Staff for hosting
the C.A.R.E Winter Board Meeting. C.A.R.E. Board Members in attendance
were President Alain Carr, Secretary Debora Sansom, Treasurer Vikki Lessard
and Vice Presidents Jim Wehrle, Linda Mayhugh, Dave Dawson, Jeff Ingram,
Jim Kwock and Spence Witten.
