Speaker Announced for C.A.R.E. 2015 Spring Conference

Harrisonburg,

Resort Exchangers (C.A.R.E.)
is excited to welcome Colonel Arthur J. Athens to the Annapolis conference
and eager for attendees to experience, learn and grow from an extraordinary
leader. Colonel Athens, USMCR (Ret.), Director of the U.S. Naval Academy’s
Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership and a member
of the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team, will be the keynote speaker at
C.A.R.E.’s
60th semi-annual conference in Annapolis, MD.

Colonel
Athens graduated from the Naval Academy with a bachelor’s in Operations
Research and went on to earn a master’s degree from Naval Postgraduate
School and the Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies. Serving in the
Marine Corps for 30 years of combined active duty and reserve service,
Colonel Athens served a myriad of positions. Among those duties he commanded
units in the 3rd and 4th Marine Aircraft Winds, served with the U.S. Space
Command, instructed at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1,
was a White House Fellow under President Reagan, just to name a few.
With
his vast experience and deep roots in leadership, it is fitting that Colonel
Athens’ keynote presentation will address that precise topic, “Back to
the Basics: the Fundamentals of Extraordinary Leadership”.
“Great
teams, organizations and schools are always very proficient in the fundamentals
that drive success in their environment. Great leaders are also characterized
by their proficiency with the fundamentals of influencing others to achieve
a common objective. But what are the fundamentals of extraordinary leadership?
This presentation will address the four leadership fundamentals that differentiate
extraordinary leaders from ordinary ones.”
The
conference will be held May 2-5, 2015 and hosted at The Westin Annapolis

C.A.R.E.
began in 1985 when a handful of resort employees, who had been working
together informally to provide an extra level of service and additional
vacation fulfillment opportunities to their owners, met in New Orleans,
LA and officially started the organization (Cooperative
Association of Resort Exchangers). Today, C.A.R.E.’s membership numbers
more than 140 member companies comprised of Resorts, Developers, Management
and Exchange Companies, Travel Clubs, HOAs, Wholesalers and Service Providers.
Members not only provide each other with opportunities for vacation fulfillment
through exchanges, but offer enhanced revenue opportunities through increased
inventory utilization and yield management.
