Farmington, NY – May 2014 / Newsmaker Alert / I’m Stoked scored a gate-to-wire victory in the 30th renewal of the $50,000 George W. Barker Stakes at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack on Monday (May 26). The 4-year-old colt owned by Chester and Mary Broman took the six furlong dash for New York-breds 3-years-old and upward in a final time of 1:10.07.

The Michael Hushion-trainee set the early pace under jockey Wilfredo Rohena. He was chased by Bug Juice throughout the annual dash, but began to widen his lead on his rival in the stretch. He went on to win the Memorial Day feature by a margin of four and three-quarter lengths.

I’m Stoked won his fifth race in his eighth career start and improved his lifetime earnings to a sum of $167,083. He was the popular choice in the wagering and paid $3.10, $270 and $2.10. Bug Juice held on to be a clear second and returned $4.50 and $2.20. Sundae On Sunday was third and paid $2.90.

The next stakes race at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack is scheduled for Friday, July 4. The $50,000 Genesee Valley Breeders’ Handicap for older New York-breds will be contested at a distance of one and one-sixteenth mile.
