Shuttle Atlantis (SM) Wins 2014 MUSE Award

Space
Shuttle Atlantis (SM) with the Silver MUSE Award, their highest
honor in the category of Multimedia Installations.

Seattle,
WA & Cape Canaveral, FL – June 2014 / Newsmaker Alert / Space
Shuttle Atlantis (SM) has won the 2014 Silver MUSE Award, their highest
honor in the category of Multimedia Installations. This year’s awards were
announced at a reception held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seattle during
the American Alliance of Museums Annual Meeting and Museum Expo.
Currently
open at the Kennedy Space
Center Visitor Complex, Space Shuttle Atlantis is an attraction devoted
entirely to NASA’s 30-year Space Shuttle Program and features an up-close
viewing of the Atlantis orbiter. Developed by Delaware North Companies
Parks & Resorts, operators of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
for NASA since 1995, as well as St. Louis-based PGAV Destinations, in partnership
with NASA, Space Shuttle Atlantis is the marquee element in a master plan
for the Visitor Complex.
Mousetrappe
worked with PGAV Destinations, the lead design firm, to design and produce
content for the attraction’s preshow which guides audience members through
an all-new architectural projection adventure. Mousetrappe’s creative team,
with Adam Bezark, of The Bezark Company, were responsible for producing
feature films that are a unique part of the visitor’s experience at the
center’s new attraction. The show takes visitors into a world where the
intersection of rich storytelling and cutting edge technology creates a
breathtakingly powerful experience. Eden FX and HOS (formerly House of
Salt) were also retained by Mousetrappe to create and produce digital sequences
for the attraction.
The
goal of Space Shuttle Atlantis was to inspire the next generation of explorers
– a fundamental mandate that is deeply infused into each and every facet
of the attraction. It was imperative to create a preshow experience that
could engage audiences who may have entered the attraction without an established,
personal connection to the shuttle program.
The
multi-stage, pulsed theater experience provides just the right mix of storytelling
and historical context in order to usher visitors into the optimal emotional
space for their first encounter with Atlantis. By creating a powerful and
long-lasting connection between the guests and Atlantis, it fully engages
visitors and encourages them to explore the remaining attraction exhibits.
