30 Days of Giving Benefits Brevard County Sharing Centers This Holiday Season

Brevard County Residents Receive Discounts on Admission
to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex by Donating Food Items
|
Cape Canaveral, FL – October 2014 / Newsmaker Alert / Brevard County residents can share the spirit of the holidays by giving to those in need during 30 Days of Giving at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Residents of Brevard County are invited to participate in the third annual program supporting area food banks and offering 70 percent off admission for up to six people to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex from Nov. 1-30, 2014.

Through contributions of nonperishable food items, Brevard residents can support Central Brevard Sharing Center, North Brevard Charities and South Brevard Sharing Centers, which provide emergency assistance to individuals and families in need. According to David Brubaker, president of Central Brevard Sharing Center, “We have a higher demand than in the past years due to the economic climate and food drives of this magnitude are a vital part in the food collection process for our sharing centers.” One in four children in Brevard County go to bed hungry every night. Due to the kindness and generosity of others, area sharing centers are able to provide more than 25,000 pounds of food to 900 individuals and families a month. In August 2014 alone, the sharing centers provided food to thousands of families.

To participate in the 30 Days of Giving, Brevard residents are encouraged to bring canned goods and nonperishable food items to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The suggested donation is at least one canned good or food item per guest. To receive the special “giving” admission rate of $15 plus tax for adults and $10 plus tax for children 3-11 years, Brevard residents must present proof of residency in the form of a driver’s license or utility bill. Tickets must be purchased onsite and on the date of entry.

Admission includes the Space Shuttle Atlantis (SM), Shuttle Launch Experience®; Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour, featuring an actual Saturn V moon rocket; Astronaut Encounter; 3D IMAX® space films and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame®.

30 Days of Giving is an annual event in support of the United Way of Brevard. United Way is working in the community to solve local problems, transform lives and allow individuals to take charge and make the future brighter for themselves, their children and generations to come.
