Kalaloch Lodge’s Creekside Restaurant Earns “Green” Restaurant Certification
|
Forks & Olympic National Park, WA – June 2014 / Newsmaker Alert / Creekside Restaurant at Kalaloch Lodge has been recognized as a Three Star Certified Green Restaurant® by the Green Restaurant Association. The Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts-operated restaurant, located in Olympic National Park, exceeded the minimum requirements for certification to join a select few in this prestigious category.

“Kalaloch Lodge prides itself on its high environmental standards,” said Kalaloch Lodge General Manager Walt Kochansky. “This certification is the result of our core values and the actions that we take every day through Delaware North’s environmental platform, GreenPath®. We are proud to not only offer great food and service, but reduce our impact on the environment in doing so.”

Creekside Restaurant was evaluated and awarded points in the categories of disposables, furnishing and building materials, energy, pollution and chemical reduction, waste, and water. Environmental initiatives in those categories include implementing marketing and educational materials, purchasing Energy Star appliances and local, sustainable food sources, recycling and composting, and reusing rain water to water potted plants.

Green Restaurant Association (GRA) is a national nonprofit organization helping restaurants become more environmentally sustainable. It provides the only official Certified Green Restaurant mark in the country.

The Green Restaurant Association restaurant certification system is based on a two, three or four star award system.

The GRA has been a pioneer in the green restaurant movement and a leading voice within the industry; encouraging restaurants to listen to consumer demand and “green” their operations using transparent, science-based certification standards.

DNC Parks & Resorts at Kalaloch, Inc. is a Concessioner authorized by the National Park Service and the Department of Interior to serve the public within Olympic National Park.
