Jeff Lefler, founder and CEO of FranchiseGrade.com stated: “In 2015, the QSR sector accounted for 18% of franchise systems but 34% of all franchise outlets within our database of U.S. franchises. QSR franchises are a core sector in franchising and continue to be an attractive investment destination for multi-unit franchisees and Private Equity investors.”

The largest 20 brands, including Subway, McDonalds, Dunkin’ Donuts, Pizza Hut, Domino’s Pizza, Jimmy John’s and Sonic Drive-In, account for nearly 70% of all franchise outlets and 42% of company outlets. This is in comparison to the over 200 franchise systems with less than 50 franchise outlets. QSR, like other franchise sectors, is comprised of a small number of well established franchise systems and a large number of emerging and start-up franchise brands.

Lefler continued: “The depth of our research is without comparison, analysis and metrics like these are invaluable to prudent investors.”
