| Bigger, Better Gander Mountain Coming to Cedar Rapids In 2017 | Nation's fastest-growing outdoor retailer developing a new store to better serve Eastern Iowa region | “Gander Mountain is already a well-known and trusted name in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding region among those who love the outdoors, and who enjoy great traditions like hunting, shooting sports, fishing, and camping,” said Derek Siddons, Gander Mountain's President. “We are thrilled to bring a new, bigger and better Gander Mountain store to Cedar Rapids, and to give our friends in Eastern Iowa the best experience when they're looking for topquality gear and knowledgeable service.” The new 52,000-square-foot Gander Mountain store will be the anchor of the new Northtowne Market shopping center – a 35-acre, mixed-use commercial development bounded by Blairs Ferry to the north, Council Street to the west and Rockwell Drive to the east. The community's current Gander Mountain store, which is located in southwest Cedar Rapids, opened in 2000 and has 31,080 square feet of retail space. “We appreciate the great relationship we have with the community of Cedar Rapids and we look forward to the grand opening of a bigger and better store in the spring,” said Eric Jacobsen, Gander Mountain's Executive Vice President and Director of Real Estate. “We enjoy helping people find the gear they need to enjoy Iowa's great outdoors.” Cedar Rapids developer Hunter Companies is overseeing redevelopment of the property it acquired in late 2014 and revitalizing it after decades of industrial use. Customers will enjoy Gander Mountain's unmatched selection of new and used firearms from around the country, both in-store and online. The store will also feature the best selection of gear and accessories for hunting, shooting sports, fishing, and camping. Additionally, Gander Mountain ships more firearms to FFLs than any other retailer. Gander Mountain also features the outdoor retail industry's first system-wide free Online Order Pick Up system, enabling customers to purchase products online and pick them up in-store the same day. Since
2012, Gander Mountain has opened more than 55 new stores throughout the
country, and remodeled most of the company's existing stores. More new
store announcements are expected soon.
