Granbury Celebrates Texas Independence Day in

| Granbury, TX – February 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / The City of Granbury, the County Seat of Hood County in North Texas, is known for many events that attract the attention of daytrippers and staycationers across the state. Among all its attractions, there are probably none more authentic to this region than its annual Texas Independence Day celebration. Granbury and the Texas Heroes Foundation have joined together to celebrate Texas Independence Day since 2011.

“This three-day event of our state is one of the most anticipated events of the year,” said Granbury Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Steve Dieterichs. “We don’t invite people to Granbury as much as we bring Texas to them, as seen with our heritage costumes, food, music, and entertainment across our city – something definitely for the entire family.”

From the regarded city parade featuring time-depicted outfits and décor, to the student history competition entitled “Leadership & Legacy in Texas History” and worth more than $4,000 in prizes, Granbury spares no detail when educating its visitors about the true history of the state through music, arts, culture, food, and entertainment.

“What is better than to celebrate Texas independence than the freedom to join in a Chuck Wagon Cookoff, live re-enactments about noted scenes in our state history, or even a bull riding competition on one of the state’s only inland beaches,” said Dieterichs. “The historic Courthouse Square is full of features to entertain and educate our visitors, whom we welcome to stay the night and enjoy everything Granbury has to offer.”

The Texas Independence Day event is open to the public, free of charge, Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The parade is Saturday at 11 a.m. and will circle Granbury Square.
