Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board Appoints Mimi Somerman as Senior Vice President of Marketing
Los Angeles, CA – August 2012 / Hospitality 1ST / Mimi Somerman has joined the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board as Senior Vice President of Marketing. In her new role, Somerman will oversee the organization’s corporate partnerships, tourism promotions, creative services, dineLA programs, and visitor information centers.

Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board Appoints Mimi Somerman as Senior Vice President of MarketingA Los Angeles native, Somerman (pictured) brings with her more than 25 years of experience in the consumer packaged goods, retailing, restaurants, and advertising industries to her new role. Prior to joining the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, Somerman served a Senior Vice President of Marketing at Mimi’s Cafe in LA, where she was responsible for P&L management, product strategy, brand positioning and concept design. Previously, Somerman held tenure as Chief Marketing Officer at Del Taco LLC, where she led marketing and R&D strategy, including positioning and product development and also served as Senior Vice President of Marketing at The Johnny Rockets Group Inc., where she was recruited to establish marketing strategies and develop both domestic and international supplier and franchise partnerships. Under her leadership, the brand received the prestigious “Hot Again!” award in 2006 by Nation’s Restaurant News, which recognizes forward-thinking companies with emerging growth potential.

In addition to her corporate experience, Somerman is also seasoned in the advertising industry. As Senior Vice President/Group Account Director for Alcone Marketing Group, an integrated marketing agency, she managed the Burger King, Evian, California State Lottery and Oroweat accounts. The first twelve years of her career were spent at Pepsi-Cola and YUM! brands, where she held various roles including Vice President of Field Marketing for Taco Bell as well as General Manager for one of Pepsi-Cola’s largest U.S. territories.

“Mimi’s strong background in retailing and promotional partnerships will be a wonderful addition to our marketing organization,” said Mark Liberman, President of Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board. “She also has extensive experience in motivating and leading some of the country’s leading advertising agencies. I know she’ll establish a productive and collaborative relationship with our new advertising agency, Campbell-Ewald.”
