Back To News/PR Index | | 46th Annual George Holliday Memorial Junior Golf Tournament in Myrtle Beach | The
boys’ division consists of three age levels: 10-11, 12-13, and 14-18 years
of age. There are two age brackets in the girls’ division: 10-12, and 13-18
years of age. All golfers who are 18 must still be enrolled in high school
to participate. “This event has been going strong for nearly a half-century
and this year looks to be as successful as ever,” said Scott Justman, Vice
President of Golf Operations of National
Golf Management. “Junior golf is one of the most important initiatives
in the game and we are thrilled to do our part in its promotion by hosting
this event.”
The junior championship is held in memory of George Judson Holliday, III, of Galivants Ferry, S.C., who won a number of junior and collegiate golf tournaments before dying at the age of 22 in November, 1967. More than 10,000 juniors have visited the Myrtle Beach area to participate in this tournament over the years. The event has hosted numerous junior golfers who have achieved success on the professional and the collegiate level including PGA TOUR and LPGA golfers Lucas Glover, D.J. Trahan and Kristy McPherson. In recent years, the tournament has welcomed participants from Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia, as well as Puerto Rico and Canada. The public is invited to attend the tournament at no charge. For more information, contact Myrtle Beach National Golf Club at 843-448-2308 or visit www.MBN.com/holliday. About
