Syracuse,
NY – December 2014 / Newsmaker Alert / Musicians, bands, and
entertainers who would like to perform at New York State’s largest festival
can now apply for consideration for the 2015
Great New York State Fair, according to Troy Waffner, Acting Director
of the Fair. Applications are available at: www.nysfair.org/contact-us/entertainment-application.
Applications are reviewed
as they arrive. Reviews will end when all available slots are filled.
Last year, the Fair hired
approximately 100 bands and solo musicians for seven performance venues
– the Empire Theater, the Midway Music Series, Gospel Music Weekend, the
Regional Artists Variety Stage, the Grange Stage, the Pan-African Village,
and the Daily Parade. Those performers put on more than 190 shows during
the 12 day Fair, about half of all Fairgrounds performances when stages
such as the Grandstand and Chevy Court as well as performances booked by
other organizations are taken into account.
The Fair is also seeking
applications from entertainers for its grounds entertainment program, which
includes the strolling street performers such as longtime favorite Hilby
the comic juggler as well as for performers and attractions in fixed locations
such as a chainsaw artist or last year’s new Wolves of the World show.
“While the Fair is known
as a showcase of national-quality entertainment, we also hire a huge number
of performers from around New York State to round out our menu of music
and fun. I encourage all of New York’s talented performers to apply and
have a chance at playing for a huge audience and making new fans,” said
Waffner.
The New
York State Fair, operated by the New
York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August
27 – September 7, 2015. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its theme, “Summer’s
Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing
top-quality entertainment.
In addition to the annual
New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events
throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious
horse and livestock shows.
The home of the Great New
York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates
all year. A year-round
schedule of events is available on the Fair’s
website. Find The Great New
York State Fair on Facebook, follow @NYSFair
on Twitter, and enjoy photos from the Fair at Flickr.com/photos/nysfair.
