Forge recently recognized eight of the city’s tourism industry employees
to mark National Travel and Tourism Week and bring attention to the many
smiling faces that power the destination’s number one industry.
The Pigeon Forge Department
of Tourism invited local businesses to nominate frontline employees whose
stellar customer service makes Pigeon Forge shine as a remarkable destination.
At the May 8 Pigeon Forge city commission meeting, Pigeon Forge Mayor David
Wear recognized eight tourism employees with the distinction of Pigeon
Forge’s Faces of Travel:

ticket supervisor – The Island;

not only represent the many facets of our city’s tourism industry but these
folks and the excellent customer service they provide are the reason more
than 10 million visitors come to Pigeon Forge each year,” said Leon Downey,
executive director of the Pigeon
Forge Dept. of Tourism. “They represent the best of the best and are
certainly worthy of our recognition and thanks, today and every day.”

Each Faces of Travel tourism
employee was highlighted on the City of Pigeon Forge’s Department of Tourism
Facebook page during National Travel and Tourism Week, which took place
May 7-13.
The Pigeon Forge Faces of
Travel honors were awarded as part of 2017’s National Travel and Tourism
Week, which celebrated the power of travel and particularly the people
who make the industry remarkable. An annual tradition for the U.S. travel
community, National Travel and Tourism Week was established by a congressional
resolution in 1983 and first observed the following year. It is a time
when travel and tourism professionals across the country unite to celebrate
the unique value travel holds for our economy, businesses and personal
well-being.
Tourism annually is a billion
dollar industry in Pigeon Forge. The family-friendly destination hosts
more than 10 million visitors each year. Located just miles from the entrance
to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pigeon Forge is home to Dollywood
theme park, the state’s most visited commercial attraction.
