Announcement
from ResortCom International
|
Las
Vegas, NV – January 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / It is with profound sadness
that we announce that our friend and colleague, Alex Marxer, passed away
on Saturday evening, December 13, 2014. He was surrounded by his family.
He was President of ResortCom International and will be profoundly missed
by his colleagues, many clients, his friends and all who knew him.
|
Prior
to joining ResortCom, Alex had already accomplished much in his life. With
a BA in Business, Languages, and Inter-cultural Management from the University
of Passau, Germany and fluency or proficiency in German, English, Spanish
and Russian, his intellectual curiosity took him around the world. After
a variety of entrepreneurial activities in his native Germany, in 1997
Alex joined Intershop Communications, in Northern California. He was responsible
for creating the global IT infrastructure of this leading ecommerce company
and supported the Company’s successful IPO. He then took his considerable
talents to Outcome Inc, taking the role of Chief Information Officer and
building Outcome’s engineering and technology platform for Web Services
and Service Oriented Architectures. He was also a co-founder of i-Somm
and Health Travel Guides.
Alex
came on board at ResortCom International in 2002 as SVP of Operations.
He led a cultural transformation, molding the Company into a process and
customer-centric organization, an endeavor culminating in the CRM Implementation
of the Year Award by CRM Magazine in 2006. At a critical time in
our history, Alex was promoted to lead ResortCom
International as President, in 2011. Over the last few years, in addition
to strengthening ResortCom’s financial position and management team, Alex
led major initiatives such as moving the Contact Center from Mexico City
to Las Vegas and a complete redesign of ResortApp, positioning the company
to continue to gain new customers and grow into new markets. He spoke regularly
at Hospitality and Technology events, on a wide range of topics, including
Out of the Box thinking, CRM and technology trends.
Although
he was a very driven person and had many, many personal and business goals
that he set out to achieve – he was a big believer in the “journey”, and
as such, enjoyed every step and the people in his life along the way. He
enjoyed reading, skiing, fitness and cars, but most enjoyed participating
in his children’s many activities and interests.
Alex
led ResortCom with sharp business acumen, yet with a heart for those he
worked with and considered his friends. He had a very positive vision of
ResortCom’s future, was very excited about the possibilities and was very
passionate about exploring them. Alex’s motto was “Let’s put wings on your
ideas!”
He
is survived by his wife Kristine and three children Lukas, Lexi and Sophie,
as well as his father, Anton, mother, Renate and sister, Melanie.
