website is hub for growing social media presence and easier access

Featuring the creations of Roger Thomas, the head of design for Wynn Hotels and Resorts, the company unveiled a new website showcasing the designer’s career and making it easier for buyers to browse, share and purchase its products. The site is coordinated with a social-media push by Thomas, who has attracted thousands of followers since joining major social platforms in September, and will increase awareness of new licensing programs beginning in 2015 with Walters Wicker, Moore and Giles and Eric Brand, as well as others yet to be announced.

“The interior design field has just begun to deal with the impact of smartphones, social media and ubiquitous photography,” Thomas said. “I’m excited about the way these tools are going to reshape routes to market in the next few years.”

The growth of The Roger Thomas Collection has been fueled by the popularity of Thomas’ designs for Wynn’s expansive resorts in Las Vegas and Macau. Steve Wynn, the founder of the resort group, told The New Yorker magazine in 2012 that Thomas’ creativity accounted for “sixty percent of the success” of the company.

Thomas’ designs also work well in quieter, smaller-scale settings, an appeal that lies behind the decisions of 17 manufacturers to partner with The Roger Thomas Collection. Traditionally, designers have left marketing and distribution to their licensing partners. “With digital media, discovery is moving off the showroom floor and away from the trade show,” Thomas observes. “Now I can share and exchange ideas directly with influencers and tastemakers around the world and around the clock.”

The designer is known for making copious sketches of historical art objects and other items that inspire his designs. “Now the iPhone is almost as valuable as my notebook,” Thomas says. On his new blog Thomas posts as he travels the world, sharing photos of events, exhibitions, important decorative art and his own projects in progress.

Thomas’ site was designed in collaboration with Media BBQ LLC, the San Francisco content-strategy firm.
