Los
Angeles, CA – October 2015 / Newsmaker Alert / The National Collegiate
Athletic Association will share its plan for the next four-year event bidding
cycle during a special briefing on Wednesday, November 11, at the TEAMS
’15 Conference & Expo in Las Vegas. Designed for prospective host cities,
the session will be an opportunity to learn the inside information about
the NCAA’s process for selecting sites for 85 of the 90 national championships
the NCAA organizes across its three divisions. The process will also include
selecting hundreds of sites used for regional qualifying competitions for
some of the championships.
“As
everyone knows, the NCAA is the leading organization in collegiate sports.
We are pleased to provide the TEAMS Conference as a platform for the NCAA
to connect with prospective city hosts with this exclusive briefing,” said
Timothy Schneider, president and CEO of Schneider Publishing, which organizes
the TEAMS Conference and publishes SportsTravel magazine. “We are
committed to offering the most indispensable sports-business development
opportunities available anywhere and this session is an example of how
we go about fulfilling that commitment.”
The
session will be facilitated by Jeff Jarnecke, the director of championships
and alliances at the NCAA, who will lead the NCAA’s delegation at TEAMS
’15.
“The
next event bidding cycle will include more than 500 events beginning in
2018 and the session at TEAMS ’15 will be a great opportunity for prospective
host partners to learn about the NCAA’s process for awarding these events,”
said Jarnecke. “I look forward to sharing the key information that a destination
or venue will need in order to participate in this bidding cycle.”
