Tetherow Resort Welcomes Jake Edwards as Head Golf Professional
|
Bend, OR – March 2016 / Newsmaker Alert / Tetherow Resort in Bend, Oregon, home of the David McLay Kidd 18-hole championship golf course, has appointed PGA Golf Professional, Jake Edwards, as Head Golf Professional.

Edwards joins Tetherow from the renowned Vintage Club in Indian Wells, California, where he was Golf Professional for seven years. There he provided the highest level of customer service in golf operations, membership and teaching. In addition to working with The Vintage Club members, Edwards worked alongside such legendary pros as Jason Day, Matt Kuchar, Mike Weir, Gary Player, Nick Faldo, Luke List, Annika Sorenstam, Natalie Gulbis and others.

Chris van der Velde, Managing Partner at Tetherow Resort, said, “Jake worked for us when we first opened, and was instrumental in player hosting and golf operations. We were happy for him when The Vintage Club recruited him, but we’re even happier to have him back as our Head Pro. We’re looking forward to a great season of golf, and are excited to have Jake at the helm of Tetherow Golf.”

Edwards grew up on the other side of the Cascade Mountains, in Lake Oswego, Oregon, but developed a passion for skiing and golf early in life, which naturally led him to Central Oregon. He moved to Bend to pursue a career in professional skiing while studying. As Bend grew, so did Jake, building and running a successful local custom stone and tile contracting company for eight years.

Edwards said, “When I saw Tetherow’s golf course being built in 2008, I realized that this property was going to be something truly special and I wanted to be part of it.” That’s when he was initially hired, later joining The Vintage Club in 2009. Edwards continued, “Recently reconnecting with Chris van der Velde and learning that they were seeking a new head pro, I realized that the time is right for me and my family to come back to Oregon. I can think of no better place to continue my career than with the Tetherow team.”

The Tetherow season opened March 27, 2016. The Golf Shop and Academy are open year-round.
