Back To News/PR Index | | Topgolf Targets First Alabama Venue in Birmingham | With 30 venues serving 12.2 million guests annually and the world’s largest digital golf audience, Topgolf has become a go-to destination for fun both in-venue and online. It is the only entertainment experience of its kind, offering fun golfing games for all ages and skill levels, paired with an outstanding chef-driven menu, top-shelf drinks, big screen TVs and music in climate-controlled bays for year-round comfort. The Birmingham venue will be located along 12th Avenue near Carraway Boulevard. The 10-acre property will be leased from the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) Authority. “As we look to expand in the Southeast, Birmingham is a key market that has been on Topgolf’s radar for a long time,” said Topgolf Director of Real Estate Development Devin Charhon. “With all the recent development in the downtown Birmingham area and all that the Uptown Entertainment District around the BJCC offers, we look forward to bringing a new option for entertainment to the Birmingham market.” The three-level location – which would be open year-round – includes up to 3,000 square feet of private event space and 102 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time. Charhon estimates that Topgolf Birmingham would serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Approximately half of all Topgolf guests describe themselves as “non-golfers.” Charhon continued, “We are thrilled by the prospect of becoming part of the Birmingham community. One of Topgolf’s core values is caring, and we want to be a great neighborhood partner. We give back to the community through volunteering, charitable giving, hosting fundraisers for local non-profits and also by serving as a gathering place for local events and entertainment.” Topgolf’s economic impact in its local communities is remarkable, creating 500 full- and part-time jobs at each venue and serving as an anchor tenant that tends to attract other popular franchises to the area. In fact, its economic output in Birmingham alone is expected to exceed $264.5 million over a 10-year-period, according to a third-party audit. “The BJCC is excited about the progress being made to bring Topgolf’s popular concept to the Birmingham area,” said BJCC Executive Director Tad Snider. “Topgolf’s recreational offering will provide a great mix of entertainment for Birmingham-area residents at the BJCC’s Uptown District.” About
