Back To News/PR Index | | Turning Stone Announces Major New Jobs Initiative, Urging Job Seekers to ‘Get in the Game’ as 2016 Expansion Ramps Up | First phase of initiative includes filling more than 300 positions in three months; TS Employees to be featured in campaign | To achieve this significant goal, Turning Stone is launching a comprehensive employment initiative, “Get in the Game,” to recruit personable and charismatic people to join its team. “Get in the Game” emphasizes the diverse career opportunities available at the resort – from gaming, nightlife and hospitality, to food and beverage, entertainment and more, including exciting seasonal positions at the golf courses. “Our employees have been the foundation of our success, which is why we wanted to make them the stars of this new campaign,” said Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation Representative and Nation Enterprises CEO. “Our recent expansion has been tremendously successful, and as we move into the next phase of expansion, we’re looking to bring on more great people to help us build upon our many accomplishments.” Turning Stone’s ever-expanding list of awards and accolades are a testament to its skilled and talented employees, which is why the resort made them the stars of its new, “Get in the Game” jobs initiative. From more than 100 resort employees who auditioned, nearly 60 were selected to be the stars of the recruiting initiative – all Central New Yorkers. Featuring bartenders, dealers, chefs and many more, “Get in the Game” was designed using employees’ own words to describe why they enjoy working at the resort. The campaign includes print and digital ads, TV commercials, billboards, movie theater trailers, referral programs and more. “The opportunities are endless,” said Albert Marshall, a spa attendant and Syracuse resident, who joined the team at Turning Stone three years ago, after working for 40 years in the steel industry. With several luxury award-winning restaurants, Turning Stone provides Central New Yorkers the unique opportunity to gain valuable culinary experience. Six years ago, when Vernon native Yolanda Lee needed experience to apply to the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, it was Turning Stone that gave Lee her opportunity for a culinary career. Surrounded by many esteemed chefs at Turning Stone who have worked at some of the most prominent restaurants in the country, Lee said they are an inspiration to her, “They give me ideas and make me better.” After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Turning Stone provided Lee an opportunity to return to Central New York, and to the resort, where she is now the Lead Cook at Wildflowers, the resort’s AAA Four Diamond Award and Forbes Recommended rated restaurant. Many of the new positions available are at the resort’s 21 dining venues, including TS Steakhouse, Upstate Tavern, Tin Rooster and Wildflowers. Turning Stone invests in its employees, offering them continuing education courses, which help them to hone and perfect their skills. Some employees also have opportunities to attend conferences and classes, learning techniques and skills from other experts in their fields. “Being able to create an experience unlike any other company, makes working at Turning Stone great,” said Tour and Travel Sales Manager Jeremy Cadrette, who lives in Rome and has worked at the resort for 15 years. Candidates will be interviewed for a range of positions in more than a dozen departments, including Food & Beverage, Gaming, Hospitality, Internet Technology, Facilities, Spa, Nightlife and Professional Services.
