About
Douglasville
Just
a few miles west of downtown Atlanta, Douglasville charms visitors with
Southern hospitality, welcoming them to a small-town atmosphere – the backdrop
for entertainment emulating big-town fun. A nationally designated Main
Street city and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Douglasville
provides a peek into the past with a historic walking tour and architectural
accolades like Old Douglas County Courthouse, one of just four buildings
still in existence in the United States that was designed in the international
style of the 1950s. While paying homage to history, Douglasville evolves
with shops, restaurants and events – such as the Taste of Douglasville,
the Main Street Farmer’s Market, Douglasville’s annual dance and talent
competitions, the annual Juneteenth Celebration, Spring, Summer, and Fall
concert series, the sanctioned Moonlight 5k run, the Chili Cook-off, and
the July 4th and Christmas parades – that give the city a modern vibe.
With its unique history, a healthy night life, year round events and activities,
and regionally recognized restaurants, Downtown Douglasville aims to be
the heart and soul of a community where families and friends can congregate
to work, live, and play. www.VisitDouglasville.com
