Rockin' at the Races Debuts July 6 at Finger Lakes

Farmington, NY – June 2019 / Newsmaker Alert / Rock-n-Roll and racing come together at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) twice this summer in a new festival of food and drink, games, music, live thoroughbred racing and more. Rockin’ at the Races will take place twice this summer, and debuts Saturday, July 6.

The event intermingles live racing, music and other activities all afternoon long, culminating in a headlining music performance. The July 6 event features Aeroforce, an internationally acclaimed Aerosmith tribute band that hails from Toronto, Ontario. Together for over two decades, Aeroforce has toured throughout the United States and Canada while reproducing the spirit of Aerosmith in look, sound and atmosphere.

Attendees are encouraged to come out for the afternoon as activities begin at noon and post time of the first thoroughbred race of the day is set for 1:10pm. Local band Highwire will take the stage for a set after the sixth race of the day at approximately 3:45pm. Two more races will follow Highwire’s performance before Aeroforce takes the stage at approximately 5:45pm to carry the event into the evening.

“Rockin at the Races is fun way for us to showcase thoroughbred racing to both current and potential new fans of the sport,” said Steve Martin, Senior Director of Marketing at FLGR. “While our goal is conduct an event that is of high energy and appealing to many, we certainly hope those who come out for the day and may have not been part of a day at the races before are intrigued enough to come back on a future race day.”

In addition to live racing all afternoon, local DJ Debbie Randyn will also be entertaining throughout the day. There will also be activities such as cornhole, a simulated golf challenge, inflatable axe throwing and more. Attendees 18 and over will have the opportunity to spin a prize wheel and enter for a chance to win up to $500 in the Finger Lakes Cash Cube. Local food trucks will be available. And for those new to racing,opportunities to learn more about the sport, including how to make a wager will be available throughout the day at designated locations.

Adding to the fun, jockeys will compete in a footrace to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund. Meanwhile, a dunk tank will be set up with all proceeds going to support of the Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption program.

The second Rockin’ at the Races of the summer at FLGR is scheduled for Saturday, August 10. Musical performers are to be announced.
