Three
Rivers, CA – April 2019 / Newsmaker Alert / The
Delaware North marketing team
at Sequoia & Kings Canyon National
Parks was awarded first place for its #UnlimitedSequoia campaign, which
was best- in-class in Wayin’s annual digital marketing competition for
user-generated content marketing. Wayin enables the world’s biggest brands
and publishers to deliver authentic, interactive marketing campaign experiences
across all digital channels. Over 45 companies participated in the competition,
including such notable brands as Marriott, Shell Oil and “The Voice” TV
show.
The
contest was managed on the Wayin digital marketing platform, which searched
out entries on dozens of social media sites using the hashtag #UnlimitedSequoia.
All of the entries were presented on the Sequoia & Kings Canyon website
and can still be
found there today.
The
contest winner was selected by a panel of judges at Sequoia & Kings
Canyon and at Delaware North. “What a great way to engage our visitors!”
said Sintia
Kawasaki-Yee, public affairs officer for the Sequoia & Kings Canyon
National Parks.
The
Delaware North marketing team of Liz Colosimo, Deb Bryson, Mary Xiong and
April Brown took significant time strategizing to create the contest, using
the Wayin digital platform and market it under the brand of the #UnlimitedSequoia
campaign. The Wayin platform allowed the team to gather entries from all
over the social media landscape and manage entry approvals so that Delaware
North has usage rights to the photos entered, creating a huge library of
outstanding photography for websites and future marketing.
To
be eligible to win, participants uploaded their favorite photo along with
the “reason why” they loved their time in Sequoia & Kings Canyon on
Instagram, Twitter or the Sequoia webpage with the hashtag #UnlimitedSequoia
for a chance to win a three-night stay at Wuksachi Lodge and a Nikon telephoto
camera. The contest performed well above expectations and generated over
1,100 images and stories that can now be used in future marketing programs.
The campaign had a social media reach of over 81,000.
“This
exposure was incredibly valuable to our brand and succeeded in telling
our story — that there is more to Sequoia & Kings Canyon than just
the famed giant trees. From rugged High Sierra mountain peaks, to canyons
carved out by rushing rivers, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks
deserve a multiday stay to really explore and experience these phenomenal
parks,” Colosimo explained. “The breathtaking photos shared on the #UnlimitedSequoia
Wayin campaign brought awareness to the parks from the perspective of our
loyal guests and enticed new visitors to come explore the parks themselves.”
All
1,100 photos were viewable on the Sequoia website and can be seen at www.VisitSequoia.com/unlimitedsequoia,
and the Wayin Blog announcing the winners can be found at: www.wayin.com/blog/the-wayin-awards-2019-the-results-are-in.
