Travel Stops Appoints Shane Wharton

President Role

Travel Stops (Love’s), the nation’s industry-leading travel stop network,
announces that Shane Wharton has been named president, a newly created
role, effective immediately. As president, Wharton will work closely with
the Love family and oversee Love’s Operations and Fleet Sales, as well
as the company’s Human Resources, Information Technology and Legal departments.
He will report directly to Love’s Co-CEOs Greg and Frank Love. Wharton
previously served as Love’s executive vice president and chief financial
officer.

of Love’s. “Shane has a long history with Love’s and a deep understanding
of our businesses, culture and people. He is a strong leader with a multitude
of strengths and capabilities, and I feel confident he is the right person
to help carry out our vision as we continue to grow.”
Wharton’s
leadership career with Love’s began 22 years ago. A graduate of Leadership
Oklahoma City and member of the American Institute of CPAs and Oklahoma
Society of CPAs, Wharton’s strong financial acumen and extensive industry
knowledge will add an increased focus on expanding the company’s products
and services for Customers.
Wharton
grew up in Geary, Oklahoma, and was born in Watonga, Oklahoma, home to
Love’s first location. He attended Oklahoma State University and earned
his bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1990 before earning his certified
public accountant license. Wharton was inducted into the OSU School of
Accounting Hall of Fame in 2016 and has actively served in various capacities
for the United Way of Central Oklahoma for more than 15 years. He has also
served on the boards of Leadership OKC’s Youth Leadership Exchange, Oklahoma
Science Museum and the Homeless Alliance.
