York, PA – January 2019 / Newsmaker Alert / Rutter’s, the award-winning regional chain of convenience stores, announces that their annual charitable giving program reached half a million dollars for 2018. This year also marks the 50th Anniversary of the Rutter’s convenience store chain.

Rutter’s holds several fundraising events each year and offers several ways for their suppliers, employees and customers to participate in community charitable giving. These fundraising dollars, along with Rutter’s corporate charitable contributions, are used to help local charities with specific needs or projects throughout the year. In addition, each year as the holidays approach, Rutter’s randomly selects 30 employees to select the charity of their choice to receive a holiday donation of $1,000 delivered personally by the employee.

“Our company has a very rich history in Central PA and we wouldn’t be able to continue to operate without the employees and community we serve. That’s why we focus on children’s’ charities and building a strong future for the community,” stated Scott Hartman, Rutter’s CEO. “I’m quite proud of what we’ve achieved this year with our charitable work. What a fitting way to end our 50th anniversary year, with $500,000 in donations!”

Charitable donations through Rutter’s take several forms, including neighborhood partnership commitments with community organizations including Crispus Attucks and Leg Up Farm; annual Golf Outing fundraising recipients including Boys Scouts of America, Spirit Trust Lutheran Services, The Children’s Advocacy Center and many more; employee charitable programs with over 30 local charities receiving donations, from the SPCA to 4 Diamonds; lastly their customer driven charitable giving programs that in 2018 supported over 15 charities including Make-A-Wish, Junior Achievement and several community food banks.
