Bridgewater,
NJ – October 2018 / Newsmaker Alert / Jersey Girls Food Tours, a Jersey
City-based company that hosts restaurant tours in New Jersey, has added
Somerville, N.J. in Somerset
County to its roster of downtown culinary destinations. Somerville
is home to approximately 50 restaurants serving a wide range of American
and international cuisines, and will now be the site of monthly food tours
for the public. The first food tour, featuring an international theme,
will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will
be led by Jenna Intersimone, a local resident and award-winning food writer
for the Courier News, which is based in Somerville.
Participants
will visit Café Picasso, Kuay Tiew Noodles, Ai Sushi, Verve and
Division Café for 20-25 minutes each, sampling plenty of food and
drink, talking to the chefs and owners of each venue, and enjoying wine
pairings from Discover Wine, also in Somerville. The cost is $89 per person
with each tour limited to no more than 20 people to offer an intimate experience.
Tickets for the November 3 tour are available at JerseyGirlsFoodTours.com
and must be purchased in advance. Those with food allergies and sensitivities
can be accommodated with prior notice.

“We’re
so excited that Somerville has been recognized for being such a great culinary
hot spot,” said Jacqueline Morales, director of Somerset County Tourism.
“There’s so much diversity here and we’re looking forward to showing the
public all the great restaurants and bars that are making downtown Somerville
such a great place to visit and live.”
Food
writer Intersimone agreed. “The restaurant scene in downtown Somerville
is a true hidden gem, with so many amazing mom-and-pop eateries that make
deciding on your dinner spot a difficult choice,” she said. “Bringing a
food tour here was a no-brainer, and it will be so much fun to give our
guests a sample of this ever-growing local culinary scene.”
Jersey
Girls Food Tours specializes in bringing foodies to New Jersey’s bustling
downtowns that offer opportunities for these exclusive dining excursions;
its other tours cover the company’s hometown of Jersey City in Hudson County,
Red Bank in Monmouth County, Princeton in Mercer County and Rutherford
in Bergen County. The owners, Alessia Aron and Janis Borroto, select local
establishments with interesting stories and experiences to share with diners,
who, according to Aron, often remark about the high quality and ample quantity
of food offered.
