Somerville is home to approximately 50 restaurants serving a wide range of American and international cuisines, and will now be the site of monthly food tours for the public. The first food tour, featuring an international theme, will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will be led by Jenna Intersimone, a local resident and award-winning food writer for the Courier News, which is based in Somerville.

“We’re so excited that Somerville has been recognized for being such a great culinary hot spot,” said Jacqueline Morales, director of Somerset County Tourism. “There’s so much diversity here and we’re looking forward to showing the public all the great restaurants and bars that are making downtown Somerville such a great place to visit and live.”

Food writer Intersimone agreed. “The restaurant scene in downtown Somerville is a true hidden gem, with so many amazing mom-and-pop eateries that make deciding on your dinner spot a difficult choice,” she said. “Bringing a food tour here was a no-brainer, and it will be so much fun to give our guests a sample of this ever-growing local culinary scene.”

Jersey Girls Food Tours specializes in bringing foodies to New Jersey’s bustling downtowns that offer opportunities for these exclusive dining excursions; its other tours cover the company’s hometown of Jersey City in Hudson County, Red Bank in Monmouth County, Princeton in Mercer County and Rutherford in Bergen County. The owners, Alessia Aron and Janis Borroto, select local establishments with interesting stories and experiences to share with diners, who, according to Aron, often remark about the high quality and ample quantity of food offered.
