In
May, Troon Privé,
the private club operating division of Troon®,
began managing Champion Hills and brought in Dana Schultz to oversee operations
of the club and the community’s Property Owner’s Association. Schultz,
a 19-year golf industry veteran, immediately set out to enhance the club
experience for members and guests. By focusing on new and improved member
programs; enhancing the food, beverage and wellness offerings, including
new TroonFIT healthy menu items in the restaurants and promoting more non-golf
fitness activities and apparel; the club has seen steady improvements inmember
satisfaction and membership growth.
Champion Hills continues to be a huge supporter of local charities, causes and the arts, working with non-profits such as the Blue Ridge Humane Society, the Brevard Music Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County. In recognition of its support, in 2014 the Boys and Girls Club inducted Champion Hills into the Founders Circle Hall of Fame, and in 2017 Champion Hills received Brevard Music Center’s Distinguished Service Award. In addition, the community recently announced that thirteen Champion Hills employees and two employee dependents will receive educational funds totaling nearly $69,000 in tuition for the 2018-2019 academic year through the Champion Hills Scholarship Fund. The Fund began in 2013 when an employee voiced his desire to return to school but lacked the financial means to a Champion Hills Club member. The empathetic member helped form a committee that spearheaded the scholarship fund. Since 2013, $235,000 in scholarship funds have been awarded to Champion Hills’ employees. Named one of the “Top 100 Planned Communities” and a “Best Mountain Views” community by ideal-LIVING magazine, Champion Hills is a year-round residential community providing four-season beauty. The Champion Hills Club is the centerpiece of the community and features a Tom Fazio-designed, 18-hole par-71 golf course that has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the top private courses in North Carolina. In addition to its award-winning golf course, Champion Hills also features a 25,000-square-foot clubhouse with multiple dining options; a new fitness center with classes and personal training; two lighted Har-Tru tennis courts; a heated pool, hydro spa and sun deck; Bocce ball courts; and 18 miles of marked and well-maintained walking trails.
