Wilmington, NC – September 2018 / Newsmaker Alert / It’s time to show Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach some love—with our votes! Southern Living – a subsidiary of Time, Inc. – recently launched its annual “South’s Best 2019” contest whereby readers are invited to vote for their favorite Southern spots. This year’s list of nominees include three of our destination gems. Wilmington is nominated in the category of the “South’s Best City,” with PinPoint Restaurant listed among the “South’s Best Restaurants.” And Wrightsville Beach scores a nomination in the category of the “South’s Best Beach.”

The Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau is hopeful that local citizens will vote for New Hanover County’s three nominees to help ensure that our destination is well-represented among the winners in the Southern Living “South’s Best 2019” contest.

“Securing a top spot in high-profile voting contests such as Southern Living’s ‘South’s Best’ provides great exposure for a travel destination. It provides that valuable third-party endorsement to potential visitors in our top visitor feeder markets,” states Kim Hufham, president/CEO of the New Hanover County Tourism Development Authority. “We are hopeful that our travel partners and local citizens will rally and vote for Wilmington, which continues to shine as a TripAdvisor ‘Destination on the Rise’ and as the USA TODAY 10Best ‘America’s Best Riverfront.’ Wrightsville Beach has also received numerous accolades, establishing itself as an active destination for races, watersports and wellness vacations.”
