Get Ready for 'Everything You Want' at The New York State Fair, as Vertical Horizon Returns After Nearly 25 Years!

Syracuse, NY – June 2025 / NewsmakerAlert: Rock fans and fairgoers alike, this is not a “True Illusion.” Prepare yourselves for “Everything You Want” as Vertical Horizon returns to The Great New York State Fair on Friday, August 29 at 1 p.m. on Chevy Court.

Vertical Horizon, founded in the early 1990s, didn’t just tiptoe into the music scene—they cannonballed in. Kicking off their journey with three self-released albums—”There and Back Again,” “Running on Ice,” and “Live Stages”—Vertical Horizon proved that they were a force to reckon with from the very start. Their big break came in 1999 when they signed with RCA, leading to the phenomenal success of “Everything You Want.” The album sold over two million copies, with its title track topping Billboard’s Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts as the most played single of 2000. Hits like “You’re a God” and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)” further solidified their radio presence, with the latter later becoming a top 20 country hit for Gary Allan in 2005.

“The Great New York State Fair is celebrated for delivering an exceptional music experience,” shared Fair Director Julie LaFave. “We take great pride in our commitment to host concerts that appeal to a wide range of musical tastes. This year, we made a concerted effort to invite artists who haven’t been to The Fair in some time, allowing New Yorkers the chance to enjoy a free concert they may not have experienced in years. Vertical Horizon was selected with our rock and alternative music fans in mind, and we are eagerly looking forward to their return!”

Vertical Horizon stands as an example of musical excellence, driven by founder, songwriter, lead singer, and guitarist Matt Scannell, who tirelessly pursues new inspiration while unifying the band. Their current success thrives on independence from major label constraints, allowing them to create music that resonates deeply with their own artistic vision.

Today, Vertical Horizon continues to evolve, with a dynamic lineup contributing to their rich musical tapestry. Their sound, rooted in rock, is enhanced by diverse influences and intricate nuances. Vertical Horizon remains a vibrant force, not just a reissue but a reimagined powerhouse. Their journey, ever-changing and full of surprises, invites fans to let go and enjoy the ride.
