national award-winning interior design team of Clive
Daniel Hospitality has recently completed the design and installation
of the total entryway to the iconic Casa
Ybel Resort on Sanibel Island, Florida.

Ramirez, Jr., “so in totally transforming our entry after Hurricane
Irma, we wanted an updated look that would represent the character of our
resort within and complementing our architecture. Clive Daniel Hospitality
and their design team did a beautiful job. We’ve had continuous compliments
every day since the entry was installed.”

After
Hurricane Irma two years ago, the resort had extensive damage to its entrance
and lost its signature Banyan tree. Due to the expanse of the storm across
the state, it had been challenging to locate and schedule contractors to
make repairs. The project required two years for planning, permitting with
the City of Sanibel, and on-site execution … all designed to minimize inconvenience
to resort guests. The actual building took about six weeks and was ready
to welcome guests in early September. The project was executed by Lombardo
Landscaping with complete day to day oversight from start to finish.
According
to Nancy
Woodhouse, IDS, Clive Daniel Home’s VP Hospitality Division and Business,
“The new entryway features majestic Royal, Coconut and Poinciana palm trees,
native vegetation, new landscaping, and bright, colorful blooms in ceramic
pots. Water features anchor the entrance on both sides with signage relocated
to the median and the famous ‘rickety-sounding’ bridge remains.”
Clive
Daniel Hospitality was also responsible for the selection of the new aluminum
patio roof over the side of the Thistle Lodge Restaurant. Previously made
of canvas, it required many repairs after the hurricane. The new solid
surface roof now covers the same patio area and invites outdoor al fresco
dining with solid protection.
Clive
Daniel Hospitality has also completed projects at Thistle
Lodge as well as the total renovation of the 40 individually owned
one-bedroom beachfront condominiums.
In
addition to the 40 condominiums, there are also 74-two-bedroom timeshare
villas on the 23-acre Gulf-front property, a massive pool area, six tennis
courts and legendary Thistle Lodge restaurant. The condominiums are managed
by Casa Ybel Resort, a division of Casa Ybel Resort Partnership. The fixed-week
timeshare units are managed by Hilton Grand Vacations, under the leadership
of Chris Cain.
The
resort is located on the site of Sanibel Island’s very first resort, built
around 1890. During Casa Ybel’s first decade, the Thistle Lodge became
the favored gathering spot for celebrities and statesmen, including Thomas
Edison and Henry Ford. By the 1920s, the Casa Ybel Hotel had become a full-service
resort.
