Fort
Myers, FL – February 2023 / Newsmaker Alert: After
41 years on Sanibel Island, Congress
Jewelers has relocated to Suite 165 in the Bell Tower in South Fort
Myers to begin a new chapter in their long history, according to Melissa
and Scot Congress, of Congress Jewelers, one of Sanibel’s longest operating
businesses.
“The
damage we experienced from Hurricane Ian made rebuilding our store in the
same Periwinkle Place location far too challenging at that time,” said
Scot Congress, President of Congress Jewelers. “Although our building was
destroyed, our spirit was not. Reopening in 64 days seemed an impossible
task after the storm, but our team came together, and everything fell into
place. Our staff deserves 100% of the credit for making it happen. Our
new store features original artwork created by my father, Larry, that was
miraculously saved from nine feet of flood waters thanks to Melissa’s persuasion.”

Melissa Congress, “We are thrilled to be welcomed by the Bell Tower, along
with six other businesses that have relocated from Sanibel. We are planning
to rebuild our Sanibel store as soon as possible. As we leave our beloved
island, we are looking to the future and will continue our tradition of
providing consistent quality, value, craftsmanship and service to our customers.”
Knowing
their clients would want to play a role in the Sanibel rebuild, Scot and
Melissa had their jewelry designers create Sanibel
Strong pendants in silver and gold, with a portion of the proceeds
from this collection to be shared with the non-profits FISH of San Cap
and the Sanibel-Captiva Recovery Fund. Pendants can be ordered online at
www.CongressJewelers.com.
Congress Jewelers
is hosting a Valentine’s Designer Show on Friday and Saturday, February
10-11 from 10am-6pm, featuring famed jewelry designers Pasquale Bruni,
Sloan Street and Fope.
In
addition to their exclusive designer jewelry pieces, Congress Jewelers
offers its trademark SeaLife
by Congress™, featuring unique creations inspired by the beauty of
the Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Each piece in the Collection is entirely
designed and handcrafted by the company’s in-house artisans, reflecting
memories from their island vacations.
Founded
on Sanibel Island in 1981 by Larry and Dee Congress, the high-end retail
operation has been in several locations during that time and experienced
hurricanes before, but none like this. Scot – who is a third-generation
jeweler – and Melissa will continue to guide their retail operation. They
will remain Sanibel residents, where they have raised their four children.
