Cuthbertson Joins CoralTree Hospitality as Senior Vice President of Residential Management

Denver, CO – October 2023 / NewsmakerAlert: Tom Luersen, president of CoralTree Hospitality, announces that Michael Cuthbertson has joined the company as senior vice president – residential management. The move comes as CoralTree recently announced the expansion of its residential resort and vacation rental portfolio in Colorado and Hawaii. CoralTree is transitioning more than 1,000 resort rental residences and 27 homeowner’s associations in Vail, Snowmass Village and on three Hawaiian Islands – Kauai, Maui and the Island of Hawaii.

We look forward to seeing how he leads this important line of business into the future.” Cuthbertson previously worked with Luersen and the CoralTree leadership team at Two Roads Hospitality where he oversaw the company’s collection of residential resort rentals in Hawaii.

CoralTree parent company Lowe recently acquired Hyatt Hotel Corporation’s residential resort management business, which consists of management agreements for individually-owned resort residences and select homeowners’ associations in Colorado and Hawaii. The management business, currently known as Destination Residential Management, will be rebranded by Lowe and CoralTree.

In 2018, Lowe sold its hospitality affiliate, Two Roads Hospitality, to Hyatt Hotels Corporation. The 2018 sale included the Destination Residential Management business that Lowe had built starting in the early 1970’s.

Cuthbertson will oversee these new vacation rental property’s as well as the company’s already established collection of residential resort assets. He brings more than two decades of hospitality operations and resort real estate experience to the team. He’s worked in development, planning, asset management, sales and operations primarily in sea and ski destinations. Over the years, he’s held executive leaderships positions, worked in sales and marketing and has overseen operation and project management for hotels and private clubs.

Most recently, Cuthbertson was area vice president of Destination by Hyatt where he oversaw the residential management portfolio across Hawaii and Colorado. He originally relocated to Hawaii from Aspen, Colo. as managing director of development in the Hawaiian Islands for Timbers Resorts based on Kauai. For Timbers Resorts, he led the operational and real estate development for Hokuala Kauai, a 450-acre master planned resort and golf community. He also held previous positions with Timbers in asset management, real estate sales and project acquisition.

Cuthbertson has worked in leadership roles in diverse resort destinations including Lake Tahoe, Aspen, Telluride, South Beach Miami, Hawaii and Tuscany, Italy for companies such as Intrawest, Playground Destination Properties, Hyatt Residence Club, Island Outpost Hotels, Carefree Resorts and Two Roads Hospitality.

Cuthbertson is based on Maui where he lives with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys all that the islands have to offer including surfing, hiking, paddle boarding, trail running and so much more.
