Delaware North Names Honorary Street Sign After Ness Sechrest
|
West Memphis, AR – December 2021 / Newsmaker Alert / On November 30, 2021, Delaware North’s owner and CEO, Lou Jacobs and Southland Casino Racing’s board members presented Southland Casino Racing’s Board of Directors Chairman Emeritus Ness Sechrest with an honorary street sign at Southland Casino Racing. The Ness Sechrest Dr. sign will be placed on the South side of Southland on the road surrounding the new casino complex. The honorary sign should be going up within the next few weeks.

Chairman Emeritus Ness Sechrest has spent 37 years on the Southland Board of Directors joining on September 25, 1984. Under his influence and direction Southland has come a long way since 1984. In 1976 Delaware North purchased Southland Greyhound Park and the first electronic games of skill were introduced in 2006. An $11 million dollar expansion in 2012 added 200 more games and the Shine Blounge. And a $38 million expansion in 2015 opened with 41,000 sq. ft. more space and increasing the number of games to more than 1,700. In 2018 Arkansas amendment 4 passed allowing casinos in Arkansas and Southland Park became Southland Gaming. In January of 2019 Delaware North announced a $250 million dollar expansion plan to build a hotel, new casino and parking garage. And on April 2019 Southland Casino Racing becomes official with live Table Games.

Sechrest is a prominent member in the Crittenden county community serving as Director for many organizations over the years, including the Fidelity National Board of Directors from 2008 to present. Sechrest has also served as Commissioner on the Arkansas Parks and Tourism Commission from 1985 to present. In 2010, Sechrest was recognized with the Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism Henry Award, Hall of Fame.

“Everyone who visits Southland Casino will be reminded of Ness Sechrest’s exemplary contributions to Southland and the community of the Crittenden county area,” Lou Jacobs said in a statement.
