Fish Camp, CA – September
2019 / Newsmaker Alert / The
long-time general manager of Tenaya
Lodge at Yosemite in Fish Camp, Calif., Paul Ratchford, will retire
at year end after serving in the resort’s leadership role twice for a total
of 16 of the past 27 years. For the past eight years, Ratchford has overseen
the full renovation of all 302 lodge and cottage rooms plus its Jackalopes
restaurant as well as the addition of several new recreational amenities,
the Kids Adventure Center and, most recently, 50 two-bedroom cabins on
the north side of the resort.
“It
has been a wonderful journey here with the associates, local neighbors
and our customers all of these years,” said Ratchford. “Our children were
raised in Oakhurst, and Tenaya Lodge provided me with the perfect balance
of professional growth and family. I am also proud of how Tenaya has contributed
to our local communities as an employer and a primary benefactor for charities
and non-profits in the mountain area. Hopefully, we have made a positive
difference.”

Ratchford’s
career has spanned 50 years with Hilton and Hyatt Hotels; Ritz-Carlton
Hotels in Half Moon Bay and Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Pebble Beach Resorts;
and the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.
“I
have been blessed to work in some of the most beautiful, unique resort
locations in the country. However, Tenaya Lodge has a special place in
my heart as one of the best experiences in my long career. It has been
a lot of fun to see this resort continue to grow and evolve with technology,
the industry and the changing expectations of our customers and guests.”
In
addition to his role with Tenaya Lodge, Ratchford serves on two boards
in Mariposa County including the Fish
Camp Advisory Council and Yosemite
Mariposa Tourism Bureau.
He
and his wife, Kristie, will continue to live in the area and look forward
to having more time to enjoy this next stage of life. “I am looking forward
to playing more golf, traveling to see our grown children, and eventually
becoming a grandfather,” adds Ratchford.
