Frontiers North Adventures Rolls Out Third Electric Vehicle Tundra Buggy
|
Churchill, CN – October 2024 / NewsmakerAlert: Frontiers North Adventures, a leader in sustainable tourism is rolling out another Electric Vehicle Tundra Buggy® making this the third EV Tundra Buggy the company is operating in the Polar Bear Capital of the World. Committed to sustainability, Frontiers North Adventures has been on a quest to convert their entire fleet of touring Tundra Buggies to Electric Vehicle technology by the end of the decade.

EV Tundra Buggies boast zero-emission propulsion and minimal sound pollution, creating a completely silent viewing experience for both guests and the wildlife of the Churchill Wildlife Management Area, which includes polar bears, caribou, arctic fox and hundreds of bird species.

“In addition to contributing to Frontiers North Adventures’ reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the main deliverable of this EV Tundra Buggy will be a silent touring experience for our guests,” says John Gunter, CEO and president of Frontiers North Adventures, adding, “The EV Tundra Buggy makes it easier for machines to fade more into the background of any guest’s wildlife experience in Churchill.”

Frontiers North Adventures Rolls Out Third Electric Vehicle Tundra Buggy

Frontiers North Adventures is currently the only tour operator in Canada who is a Certified B Corp— something that the company hopes will change in the future as more of the travel industry begins to focus on offering sustainable touring experiences. Committed to continuing to strive to reduce GHG emissions and change operations to be more environmentally friendly, Frontiers North Adventures is committed to converting the entire touring fleet of 12 Tundra Buggies in the touring fleet to electric vehicle technology by the end of the decade.

The two Ev Tundra Buggies that have been in operation have been put to the test operating in conditions as cold as -50°C in the winter northern lights tour season! The EV Tundra Buggies are used year-round for the three different seasons that Frontiers North Adventures hosts guests in Churchill. It is estimated that each EV Tundra Buggy eliminates 15.74 tonnes of GHG emissions in an operating year. Over 25 years and with all touring Tundra Buggies converted to Electric Vehicle technology, it is estimated that GHG emissions could be reduced by 2316.49 Tonnes in CO2e. The average range of an Electric Vehicle Tundra Buggy is 50 KM (31 mi) more than enough for a full day out on the tundra viewing wildlife.

The Frontiers North Adventures’ Tundra Buggy® fleet includes Tundra Buggy One, which is the research vehicle for Polar Bears International, the only nonprofit dedicated solely to polar bears and Arctic sea ice. Through this collaboration, Tundra Buggy One hosts scientists as well as Polar Bear Live Cams powered by explore.org, the largest live nature network in the world, reaching millions of viewers.
