San Antonio, TX – January 2025 / NewsmakerAlert: Robert G. (Bob) McCullough APR, Fellow PRSA, has announced plans to retire Jan. 31 from his communications role at Morgan’s, the nonprofit organization that coordinates planning, fundraising, marketing and communications for world-renowned Morgan’s Wonderland theme park and all the Ultra-Accessible™, fully-inclusive ventures that have followed, each designed with the special-needs community in mind and built for everyone’s benefit.

Bob McCullough Retiring from Communications Role at Morgan's in San AntonioMcCullough joined the Morgan’s Wonderland team in early 2010 when the unique park was still under construction. After serving as communications director for more than a decade, he shifted to new duties two years ago, reporting directly as communications consultant to Gordon Hartman, Morgan’s founder and chair.

“It truly has been the experience of a lifetime collaborating with a visionary like Gordon Hartman to help spread the word about Morgan’s and its mission of inclusion – bringing together those with and without special needs for interaction and a better understanding of one another,” McCullough said.

Prior to his 15 years of service to Morgan’s, McCullough headed public relations for SeaWorld San Antonio and corporate communications for CPS Energy, Greater San Antonio’s electricity and natural gas provider. He also completed 30 years of service as a public affairs officer in the U. S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve, retiring in the rank of colonel.

A native of Port Arthur, Texas, McCullough graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism in 1970. Two years later, he earned a master’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism at Columbia.

An accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), McCullough in 2021 earned induction into the College of Fellows, an honorary organization within PRSA whose members “contribute in extraordinary ways” to advance the communications profession. He is a past president of PRSA’s San Antonio Chapter and a past president of the Texas Public Relations Association. His honors include three awards in the national PRSA Silver Anvil competition and the 2005 Tex Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award during PRSA San Antonio’s annual Del Oro Awards banquet.

McCullough and his wife, Shelley Bennack McCullough, live near historic Camp Verde in the Texas Hill Country.
