Hunting
Creek Country Club, located just outside of Louisville in historic
Prospect, Kentucky, recently welcomed Chef
Travis Hall as the Club’s new executive chef. Chef Hall specializes
in recipe development, food and wine pairings, menu design, kitchen and

Hunting Creek, he will bring his expertise and passion to every plate while
overseeing all facets of food service and preparation across the Club’s
multiple dining venues.

Chef
Hall is a seasoned culinary professional with extensive training from the
National Center of Hospitality Studies at Sullivan College. His impressive
career spans across prestigious establishments, including his roles as
executive chef at Audubon Country Club in Louisville and Eddie Merlot’s
in Louisville. Chef Hall has also held key positions in renowned venues
like the Charthouse (Angelo and Maxie’s Steakhouse) in Reston, Virginia,
and received specialized training in Manhattan, New York. As a corporate
executive chef, he previously managed culinary operations at Glenmary Country
Club and GlenOaks Country Club in Louisville.
In
addition to his executive roles, Chef Hall has also owned and operated
two successful establishments: Eva Mae’s Creekside and Olivia’s. His early
career included prominent sous chef positions at the Westin Peachtree Plaza’s
Sun Dial Restaurant in Atlanta, Sheraton Buckhead, and the century-old
Belleview Biltmore Hotel in Clearwater, Florida.
“I
am beyond excited to welcome Chef Travis Hall to our culinary team,” said
Hunting Creek Country Club General Manager Zeke
Larson. “His talent and creativity in the kitchen are truly remarkable,
and I look forward to the fresh ideas and flavors he will bring – both
literally and figuratively – to elevate our dining experience at Hunting
Creek.”
Chef
Hall has twice been featured on “Secrets of Louisville Chefs” and once
on “Secrets of Bluegrass Chefs Live.” He has also appeared in Food and
Dining Magazine. One of his proudest initiatives remains partnering
with a large daycare chain to provide nutritious homemade meals to low-income
children in Louisville.
“At
Hunting Creek, we continually work to elevate the service offerings and
amenities for the membership,” said Troon Director of Operations Dana
Schultz. “Chef Hall’s culinary talents are impressive and are consistent
with the superior member experience across all areas of the Club.”

About
Hunting Creek Country Club
Founded
on July 4, 1964, Hunting Creek
Country Club is set among the rolling hills of Kentucky on a bluff
south of the Ohio River. The club offers a host of year-round amenities,
including a 7,157-yard golf course originally designed by former club member
Ben Wihry. Holt Golf Design led a complete tee-to-green course renovation
that was completed in 2010. Throughout its history, the course has hosted
nearly every major tournament in the state, including the Kentucky Amateur
and the Kentucky Open. In addition to championship-caliber golf, Hunting
Creek also features six clay tennis courts and four pickleball courts;
a beautiful new swimming pool complex with adult and kiddie pools; and
a social calendar filled with year-round fun events and activities for
the entire family. In late 2020 Hunting Creek Country Club unveiled its
new 25,000 square-foot clubhouse, which includes a completely updated lobby,
golf shop, a fireside lounge area as well as new dining options at The
Grille 64 and the Partridge Lounge. In addition, newly expanded outdoor
social venues include a new bar area, increased seating and fire pits.
Hunting
Creek got its name from the narrow creek that traverses the 16th fairway.
The creek originally had no name when golf course architect Ben Wihry and
his partner Campbell Miller looked at it on a surveyor’s map. Miller, a
history buff, suggested naming it Hunting Creek after the two streams –
Little Hunting Creek and Great Hunting Creek – on George Washington’s Mt.
Vernon property in Virginia. It was later adopted as the club’s name.
