Ambassador training program reflects the Wilmington and Beaches CVB’s commitment
to offering exceptional visitor experiences,” states Kim
Hufham, president/CEO of the New Hanover County Tourism Development
Authority. “As the hospitality/tourism industry continues to face a shortage
of trained workforce, our intent is that the Tourism Ambassador training
course will help familiarize front line employees with our destination’s
assets, as well as provide visitor information tools, resources, and customer
service training.”
![]() Course lessons are designed to cultivate a deeper understanding of the importance and benefits of tourism in our community, as well as the vital role that tourism ambassadors play in making Wilmington and Beaches a great place to live, work and visit. Other lessons focus on product knowledge by revealing destination attractions, hidden gems, and immersive experiences. Students also learn how to use visitor and trip-planning resources, including the Wilmington and Beaches destination website, official Visitors Guide, and the recently launched Mobile Trip Guide. Armed with extensive knowledge, resources and a passion for Wilmington and our Island Beaches, certified tourism ambassadors are prepared to share knowledge that will enable visitors to explore Wilmington and Beaches in a meaningful way that creates lasting memories. The Wilmington and Beaches CVB is inviting all visitor-facing employees, travel partners and stakeholders to complete the free training course and become certified as local Tourism Ambassadors. The new certification course can be completed at the students’ own pace. Partners can access the online course via a link in the Wilmington and Beaches CVB Extranet.
